What to do when you feel like doing nothing, when you’re unmotivated, burnt out, tired & unproductive.
Whether you’re having a stressful day at work, or a challenging week at home, you can utilize these tips to re-wire your body and mind. Make positive change to your brain by changing the way you behave.
Seconds - deep breath strategy. Deep inhale and exhale, long, slow, relaxing exhale will help you reduce amount of tension, in bodies and minds. Enables us to have more energy than tension to go on about our day. These long inhale and exhale exercise takes seconds to help you recover from tension and elevate your energy.
Presentation always makes me nervous. The introvert in me will never be able to do public speaking. Having the ability to do zoom meetings was one of the better things that came out of the pandemic.
For lunch today, I will make quick pasta made from last night's leftover.
A mandarin orange will add a little bit of sweetness in the pasta salad
Minutes – shifting control. Vast majority of population experience emotions, have thoughts about their emotions, and they take action.
However, if you switch the order of this sequence you can condition your brain.
Getting into good posture and stretches sets the stage for positive physiology.
Which in turn sets the stage for positive emotions. The sequence, act – think – feel helps you reset right before important things you need to do.
Tonight’s dinner is beef stew with potato. This hearty recipe replenishes both the soul and tummy! 😊
At end of the day, I clean up when the children are asleep. It’s been a long day and a little cleaning at the end of the day will set up for a great morning.
There’s no school tomorrow, so I’ll barely have any time to clean up.
The kids are home today. They have been asking for banana bread for a few weeks since they’ve been watching the banana ripening on the island. I’m making their wish come true today. I secretly think my husband buys over abundance of bananas every time because he wants me to make banana bread.
This recipe is easy and fail-proof. I will leave the recipe in the description box below.
Mix in the batter in separate batches to make sure there are no flour clumps
You can add raisins, walnut, or flaxseed at this stage to your liking. We normally add some walnuts.
The bread takes about an hour to bake. In the meantime I can clean up.
Hour – take a power nap. 3-10 minutes.(No more than 20 minute). Taking a short nap helps you recharge and re-concentrate. You can also choose to go for a walk and get exercise. Sleep and exercise have the same result. It stimulates new growth of neurons inside the brain. Enables you to think more clearly, learn faster, be more creative, problem solve.
Day – if you have a day to recover, you want to leverage the power of nature. Get outside, go to the park, go for a walk, leave your devices at home. You can go to the park, beach, river, or even an art gallery. The goal is to get yourself out of the building environment, get moving and leverage the power of nature. Nature just has the power to heal, and all of that is easy to access when we are outside of the office or home.
Week – if you have a week off. The trick is to learn something new. You might be thinking, I’m burnt, I’m exhausted, why on earth would I want to learn something new on my break? I don’t have any time for that! The goal is to shift your focus, get out of your comfort zone. The learning can be something as simple as reading a book.
I am relieving my stress and changing my brain wave to relaxed, passive attention.
You don’t have to be good at it. The point is to get our brains into growth mindset when we try to learn something new.
Above are the 5 tips to reenergize and recharge either you have seconds, minutes, days, hours, or weeks. Make the positive change to your attitude and behavior, and see the progression to improve your mentality.
Tonight’s main course is stir-fried pork with celery and nuts. This is a healthy and balanced dish between fiber and protein. And it looks appetizing with all the different colours!
I still really enjoy the Ikea bamboo containers. The colour is so calming and makes my heart sing every time I use it.
